Refunds & cancellations

What happens if you change your mind — at each stage of a project, and for retainers, hosting and reports. Written so there is nothing to argue about later.

Last updated 30 August 2026

The principle

We charge for work done. If we have not done the work, we do not keep your money.

What complicates that is timing: on a build, most of the cost is our time, and time already spent cannot be returned. The sections below set out exactly where the line sits at each stage, so nobody has to argue about it later.

If you are unhappy with something, tell us before asking for a refund. In almost every case we would rather fix the work than return the fee — and we usually can.

Before work begins

Full refund, no questions.

If you have paid a deposit and we have not started — no code written, no server provisioned, no research done — email us and we return it in full.

“Started” means we have begun the work itself, not that we have replied to your emails or discussed the project. Conversations before a project begins are free.

Once work has begun

You pay for what is complete. The rest is returned.

If you cancel mid-project, we stop, total up what has genuinely been done, and settle the difference either way:

  • If you have paid more than the work completed, we refund the balance.
  • If the work completed exceeds what you have paid, we invoice the difference.
  • You receive everything finished and paid for — code, files, access.

We will show you what has been done and how we arrived at the figure. It is not a number we invent.

After delivery

We fix it rather than refund it.

Every project includes a support window after launch. If something we built does not work as agreed, we correct it at no cost within that window — that is what the window is for.

Completed and accepted work is not refundable. Once a site is live, being used, and signed off, the work has been delivered.

If we cannot make something work as specified, and no reasonable alternative resolves it, we refund the portion of the fee covering that specific piece.

Retainers and hosting

  • Billed monthly in advance.
  • Cancel any time with 30 days’ notice from either side.
  • The current month is not refunded — the service was available to you.
  • Months billed beyond the notice period are refunded in full.
  • Cancelling a retainer does not affect ownership of anything already built for you.

If you host with us and decide to move, we help you migrate. We do not hold a site hostage to keep a hosting fee.

Reports and one-off deliverables

SEO audits, keyword research and similar reports are non-refundable once delivered. The value is the research itself, and it cannot be returned after you have read it.

If a report has not yet been produced, cancelling costs you nothing and we refund in full.

If a delivered report is factually wrong, we correct it. That is a defect, not a refund question.

Third-party costs

Some things we buy on your behalf cannot be refunded to us, so we cannot refund them to you:

  • Domain registrations
  • Premium themes, plugins and licences
  • Stock imagery and fonts
  • Paid API access or third-party subscriptions
  • Server time already consumed

These are always listed separately in a quote so you can see what they are before agreeing to them.

How to cancel

Email hello@bizhoist.com saying you would like to cancel and, if you are comfortable saying, why.

  • We acknowledge within one business day.
  • We send a written summary of work completed and the amount due or owed.
  • Once agreed, refunds are issued within 7 to 10 business days.

There is no cancellation form, no retention call, and nobody will try to talk you out of it.

How refunds are paid

To the original payment method, always.

  • Razorpay (India) — typically 5 to 7 business days to reach your account.
  • Stripe (international) — typically 5 to 10 business days.
  • Bank transfer — 3 to 5 business days.

Transfer and gateway fees on the original payment are not recoverable by us and are deducted from the refund. Currency movement on international payments can also mean a small difference in the amount received.

If we disagree

Raise it with us first. Most disputes are a misunderstanding about what was in scope, and a quote plus a written summary of the work usually settles it in one email.

If it cannot be resolved directly, the governing law and jurisdiction in our terms of service apply.

We would rather refund someone we disagreed with than have an unhappy client talking about us. Being new means we cannot afford a bad reputation, and that works in your favour.
